Twitter fights Coronavirus fake news
Declared by the World Health Organization as a public health emergency of international concern, the Coronavirus outbreak has all the world on high alert. Flights cancelled, immigration tightened, borders closed… and fake news. Plenty of fake news.
Twitter, recognizing the severity of the issue, is rolling out features that will make it easier for users to access trustworthy news. The platform announced that they:
“Want to help you access credible information, especially when it comes to public health.
We’ve adjusted our search prompt in key countries across the globe to feature authoritative health sources when you search for terms related to novel #coronavirus.”
Having Twitter directly show credible links should prove really useful to prevent the spread of misinformation.
