Watching Reels on your phone while the big TV sits switched off feels a bit wasteful. Instagram seems to agree.
Instagram has launched an app for Apple TV, so you can now watch Reels, longer videos, and live shows on the big screen. The app arrived in late October 2026 and needs an Apple TV running tvOS 26 or later. It’s the latest addition after Fire TV, Google TV and Samsung smart TVs.
What can you watch?
Reels are grouped into channels by interest, covering topics like music, sports highlights and travel, and they play one after another with full sound. Instagram also lists longer videos and live shows, reflecting its recent push into long-form content. Your phone stays free too, since the app plays on independently without casting.
What can’t you do on TV?
The app is built for watching, not posting. Messaging, editing and uploading still happen on your phone. For creators and brands, though, it means more content could be viewed on TV screens, so videos that look and sound good in a living room are worth thinking about.
