Instagram has launched First Draft, a new feature that automatically trims clips and removes pauses to create an initial cut in seconds. Creators can then edit the result instead of starting from a blank timeline.
It is not exactly revolutionary. Automated editing tools already exist elsewhere, but putting the feature directly inside Instagram gives creators one less reason to leave the app.
That is becoming a familiar strategy for Instagram: make creating, editing, and publishing possible without needing another tool in the process. For creators, that could mean less time piecing clips together and more time actually making content worth watching.
If Instagram can take the boring bits off your hands, it might have a winner.
