Meta is removing Messenger Stories as an ad placement on August 27, meaning advertisers using it will need to move their campaigns elsewhere.
The placement allowed brands to show ads between organic Stories on Messenger, similar to the Stories experience on Facebook and Instagram. Once the change takes effect, campaigns running exclusively on Messenger Stories will no longer deliver there.
For advertisers, the main takeaway is straightforward: review active campaigns and make sure Messenger Stories is not the only place they are running.
It is not the biggest change Meta has made to its ad platform, but it is the kind of minor update that can become a bigger problem if you only notice it once a campaign stops delivering.
