Meta is adding new subscription tiers for its AI tools, giving users more access to image and video creation while giving company a clearer path to monetising its growing AI investment.
The timing is interesting. Meta has been spending heavily on AI, but its free AI tools have yet to become a major standalone revenue driver. These new tiers suggest the company is now testing how much users are actually willing to pay for that extra access.
It also fits Meta’s wider push to turn AI from an expensive investment into a business of its own. The company is betting that once people see enough value in its AI tools, paying for additional access will start to feel worthwhile.
Free AI gets you through the door. The paid subscription is where Meta hopes you’ll stay.
