Every advertiser has been there. A campaign does well, but nobody can tell whether it was the video, the photo or the headline someone rewrote five minutes before launch that made the difference.
Meta is clearing that up. It has expanded the Breakdown tool in Ads Manager, allowing advertisers to see how each image, video and text version in an ad performs on its own.
What does the Breakdown tool show?
When you upload several images, videos or text options to one ad, Meta mixes and matches them for different audiences. Until now, the results came back as one blended number. Now, choosing “Media” under Breakdown shows how each image and video performed when it ran as a single piece of media.
Are there any limits?
Yes, there are a few. Ads shown as a collection or carousel won’t appear in the list, and some conversion types, including Donate and Subscribe, aren’t supported yet. For most standard ads, however, picking the winner just got a lot easier.
