Instagram has introduced the ability to include multiple videos within a single post—essentially a Reel-format carousel. Users can sequentially navigate through each video, keeping everything unified in one location. This feature merges two existing platform formats: multi-image carousels and Reels.
To utilize this feature, users must update Instagram and download Edits, the Video Editor application, where the feature appears under the Links section in the timeline.
Series-focused creators and brands have operated within a structural mismatch between their content presentation preferences and platform capabilities, particularly when multi-part tutorials and behind-the-scenes sequences require narrative continuity. They need viewers to progress seamlessly from one segment to the next with minimal resistance. Until recently, Instagram's tools didn't adequately support this requirement. Options included compressing everything into one video (potentially sacrificing pacing or depth), fragmenting content across separate posts and hoping audiences discovered them sequentially, or accepting that the format didn't suit the platform.
The multi-reel post restructures this dynamic. All content lives in a single location, allowing viewers to navigate at their preferred speed while creators maintain sequence control. This modest structural change carries substantial implications for how episodic or extended-form content functions on a platform historically emphasizing isolated moments rather than interconnected stories.
