Picture Meta’s AI adding an image to your ad without your approval. Under Meta’s new rules, the responsibility of that mistake would be on you, not Meta.
Meta has updated its Commercial Terms, the rules every business agrees to when it uses Facebook, Instagram and Meta’s ad tools. A new “AI Features” section states that advertisers are solely responsible for anything Meta’s AI creates or changes in their ads, including features Meta enables by default.
What’s different from before?
Under the previous terms, you were only responsible for AI-generated content if you chose to use Meta’s AI tools yourself. The new terms also cover features that are enabled for you. Meta acknowledges in the terms that its AI can make mistakes, but the risk stays with the advertiser.
What should brands do?
Check your Advantage+ creative settings before every campaign goes live. You can switch off each enhancement in Ads Manager. With Black Friday and the holiday season coming up, now is a good time to do it.
