Well, it seems the whispers have turned into reality - Elon Musk recently confirmed that X (formerly Twitter) will soon launch two new premium tiers.
The first, a budget-friendly option, includes all Premium features but still has ads. The second, more expensive, offers an ad-free experience.
While specific pricing details remain under wraps, new unverified users will be charged $1 a year for basic functionalities (posting, reposting, liking), as part of X's "Not A Bot" program, aimed at combating spam and bot activity. X recently initiated this charge for users in New Zealand and the Philippines as part of a test case.
Mind you, we're still not sure why X has decided to enforce this $1 scheme on users joining via the web, and not through the mobile app.
