Sharing someone else’s photo on X used to come with an awkward choice: repost the whole post, or screenshot it and hope nobody notices.
X has launched “Post photo”, a new way to share another person’s image while giving the original creator credit. Simply long press a photo, tap Post photo, and it’s added to your own post with a link to the original creator’s profile.
Who gets credit?
Both accounts do. Views on the shared image count for you and for the person who made it. Under X’s Original Content Rewards program, both accounts can now earn from those views. Previously, posts with copied images weren’t eligible for payouts.
Why does it matter?
Good images can go viral without the original creator getting anything back. Post photo gives people a simple way to share without taking credit. For brands, it’s also an easy way to share fan photos and creator content, while making sure the original owner is clearly credited.
