X wants your AI assistant to run your ads

X wants your AI assistant to run your ads

If Meta is taking more control away from advertisers, X is taking a different route: letting them bring their own AI into the room. X has launched an Ads Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and custom AI agents to work directly with X’s campaign data.

Advertisers can use these tools to access campaign data, analyse performance, and get recommendations through natural-language prompts, rather than relying entirely on X’s own Ads Manager. It is a small but interesting shift: instead of forcing marketers to learn another platform’s AI, X is letting them choose the assistant they already use.

The bigger story is that X is joining a growing list of platforms opening their advertising systems to third-party AI. Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and Snapchat have all moved in a similar direction, suggesting that the future of campaign management may be less about learning every platform’s interface and more about simply telling an AI what you want done.

The future of ad management might not belong to the platforms at all.
