TikTok is introducing a new “Customize Feed” option, allowing users to input their in-stream content preferences.

This functionality lets users define the kind of content they want to encounter more or less frequently in their “For You” feed, even permitting requests for specific content within a designated period.

However, it’s important to note that user preferences might not always accurately mirror their actual content preferences. Given that trends are fueled by engagement and divisive topics, they may not accurately represent the broader user base’s interests. 

As a result, TikTok is expected to assign minimal algorithmic weight to this feature, recognizing that many users may choose not to utilize it.
