Facebook’s WhatsApp is about to introduce ads
WhatsApp’s Vice President, Chris Daniels, announced earlier this week that the company will be placing ads in the ‘Status’ feature, where users can share photos, videos, and text that disappears after 24 hours just like stories on Instagram and Snapchat do.
Currently, there is no timeline for when this will roll-out, but Daniels says “That is going to be the primary monetization [space] for the company as well as an opportunity for businesses to reach people on WhatsApp.” This indicates largely that it will become a reality, possibly sooner rather than later.
