New YouTube features have landed
In its quest to deter its content creators from getting swooned by the TikTok craze, YouTube has rolled out new updates on its 17th birthday!
First things first with the ‘Pinch to zoom’. The gist here is that when you set your pinched fingertips free, the video maintains its close-up. However, it’s only enjoyable in high resolution, or else expect a thousand pixels swarming around.
Second comes the ‘Ambient Mode’ for an even darker mode, where subtle wisps of color inspired from the video you’re watching will bleed into your app background.
‘Precise seeking’ comes next, previewing thumbnails inside your video player, rendering spot-that-scene quests less tedious.
More UI tweaks came in with a revamp of the ancestral subscribe button, soon shedding off its distracting red cladding in favor of a new white and black design.
