X’s AI assistant Grok has received a powerful upgrade with the launch of Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini: boosted performance (in terms of code generation, writing, and news) as well as novel image-generation capabilities.

In its announcement, X said that these two new versions of Grok are available in beta on the platform, and will be accessible via xAI’s “Enterprise API” later this month.

However, the accompanying image generation feature has already raised some  concerns. Some users worry the lack of clear restrictions on the image generation process could lead to the spread of misinformation and offensive content, especially since the generated results do not seem to carry an AI tag.
