Facebook gets a makeover to win back younger users

Facebook is making a conscious effort to lure young adults back to its platform.

The platform aims to be a central hub for young people, particularly college students, to discover local activities, connect with groups, and find affordable items on Marketplace. That’s why it will be launching dedicated “Local” and “Explore” tabs. The “Local” tab will incorporate content from Reels, Marketplace, Groups and Events. Whereas the “Explore” tab will highlight content tailored to users’ interests and sourced from Pages they don’t follow.

On another note, the competition with TikTok is fierce, and Facebook isn’t shying away from the challenge. They’ve also introduced a full-screen video tab, clearly inspired by TikTok’s popular format.

In addition, Facebook Dating is getting a boost with a new feature called “Matchmaker.” This allows users to enlist the help of up to five friends to swipe through potential matches on their behalf.

There’s much more in the pipeline. Check it out here.
