Video trends hit LinkedIn

The platform long known for resumes and job hunting is now testing a TikTok-inspired video trends feature that encourages members to create video responses to trending professional topics.
The new feature highlights trending topics as header tags within video clips and across the main feed. The interface is simple: spot a topic that sparks your interest, tap to explore what others are saying, then hit the “Add to this trend” button to record your own take. It’s collaborative content—with a professional twist.
At first glance, this might seem like just another platform mimicking TikTok. But look closer, and there’s a real potential here: LinkedIn is creating structured conversations around specific industry topics rather than random viral challenges. This could become a powerful way for professionals to demonstrate thought leadership in their field.
While text-based posts and traditional resumes aren’t disappearing, this move acknowledges that professional identity in the digital age is increasingly dynamic, visual, and participatory.
The feature is currently being tested with U.S. users only, but if successful, expect a global rollout soon.
