Introducing Meta’s latest AI-powered ads arsenal

Meta announced a handful of practical ad updates at its Brand Building Summit. No revolutionary breakthroughs, just solid improvements that could make your campaigns more effective.

Reels Gets Smarter About Trending Content

Reels trending ads let you place ads alongside content that is currently taking off. Meta’s AI identifies the most engaging posts across categories and gives you ad spots next to it. You can target specific niches or go broad with trending content overall. The catch? You need a Meta sales rep to access it, so this isn’t for everyone yet.

Threads Finally Gets Real Ad Options

Meta is adding carousel ads and improved image formats to Threads, including 4:5 aspect ratios that align with Instagram’s style. The more interesting part is catalog ads, which automatically extend your existing Meta campaigns to Threads. You can also run Threads ads without a Threads account, by repurposing your Facebook and Instagram content.

Value Rules Expand Beyond Sales

Value rules were previously only for conversion campaigns, but now you can use them for awareness and engagement too. Essentially, you tell Meta’s algorithm which users matter most, and it prioritizes showing them your ads. With Meta’s detailed targeting exclusions removed, value rules give you another way to guide who sees your ads. Not perfect, but better than nothing.

In essence, these updates are incremental improvements rather than game-changers. They give advertisers more control and better targeting options, but they won’t transform mediocre campaigns into winners.
