The carousel grew up: Instagram lets you stack Reels now
Instagram has rolled out the ability to include multiple videos in a single post, effectively a carousel, but in Reel form. Viewers can tap through each video sequentially, keeping everything contained in one place. It’s the logical marriage of two formats the platform already had: the multi-image carousel and the Reel.
To access the feature, users need to update Instagram and download Edits, the Video Editor app, which houses the feature under the Links section in the timeline.
Creators and brands who produce series content have been operating with a fundamental mismatch between how they want to present material and what the platform actually supports, especially since multi-part tutorials and behind-the-scenes sequences require continuity. They need a viewer to follow from one piece to the next with minimal friction. Until now, Instagram’s tools didn’t really support that. You either compressed everything into one video (often at the expense of pacing or depth), split it across multiple posts and hoped people found them in order, or just accepted that the format didn’t fit the platform.
The multi-reel post changes that calculus. Everything lives in one place, allowing viewers to tap through at their own pace while the creator controls the sequence. It’s a small structural shift with meaningful implications for how longer-form or episodic content can work on a platform that has historically favored standalone moments over connected narratives.
