Meta is shaking things up with the help of AI by introducing AI versions of influencers, essentially creating digital twins that can interact with fans on Instagram. 

Imagine your favorite influencer answering your questions in real-time, 24/7! Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, says these AI replicas will be able to answer questions in the influencer’s own style and personality. 

Currently in beta, only select Instagram creators (based in the US) can access the “AI Studio” platform to create their AI replicas, which will be tucked within DMs to interact with fans. These AI bots will be clearly marked with a star icon, disclaimers, and in-stream signifiers to avoid any confusion with real-time influencer interactions.

Nonetheless, some online users are still skeptical. They worry that inauthentic interactions go against the very foundation of social media, which is built on real connections.
