According to user reports, followed by Meta’s official confirmation, Instagram has recently rolled out a major update – comments on Stories. This feature allows viewers to leave comments directly on your Stories, visible to everyone who sees them. 

However, only followers whom you also follow back can leave a comment, but you can change this to all followers.

Previously, interactions with Stories were limited to reactions and direct messages. Now, comments bring a whole new level of engagement, transforming Stories from passive viewing experiences to dynamic discussions.

In terms of placement, these comments are conveniently tucked at the bottom of the screen, just below the playback controls and viewer information, ensuring they  don’t disrupt the overall user experience.
