Meta’s Threads has arrived
Instagram’s new Threads app has already surpassed 100 million users in a matter of days since its launch, outpacing ChatGPT.
For those of you still unacquainted with the new kid on the block, Threads allows users to post up to 500 characters, supporting images, videos and GIFs. By logging in with your Instagram account, you can easily follow the same people you already do.
Additionally, your username, account name and block list settings will be imported seamlessly. However, the only way to delete a Threads account is by deleting your linked Instagram profile, but Meta is looking into different scenarios to prevent such a mishap.
Meta’s mission with Threads is to steer the conversation away from overwhelming news and current events that dominate Twitter, by creating a space for alternative discussions that offers users a refreshing break from the endless cycle of disinformation.
Adam Mosseri also dropped some hints about upgrades to Threads, as they’re working on improving search, creating active hashtags, adding a special feed for all your followers and much more.
However, as Threads basks in its success, another competitor looms on the horizon, BlueSky. Will Threads reign supreme, or will BlueSky steal the crown?
