Prepare for a LinkedIn algorithmic shake-up
LinkedIn has recently made significant algorithm updates to address rising issues related to non-professional and system-gamed content.
According to an Entrepreneur interview with two LinkedIn executives, it looks like the company is now placing greater emphasis on content that shares “knowledge and advice”.
This means that LinkedIn’s algorithms will be evaluating whether your shared content aligns with your niche expertise and in turn gauging the level of engagement through “meaningful comments”. These comments reflect genuine conversations that go beyond generic, surface-level interactions.
In addition, LinkedIn will also be further prioritising your connections and the people/pages you follow by offering you a more tailored feed and personalized experience. So expect to start seeing more posts that align with your preferences, and less irrelevant content recommendations.
LinkedIn is also planning on reducing the visibility of spammy and low-quality content. Yep, we’re talking about hustle culture parodies and your colleague’s (ehem) “scroll-stopping” selfies.
Well, guess it’s time to leave behind our precious collection of The Office memes and embrace the realm of professional content.
PS: Here’s a summary of the interview.
