Twitter brings in Branded Features
Twitter just announced a basket of “fresh” features to help brands supercharge their campaigns. But looking closely, you’ll realize that they’ve been around for quite some time.
Starting off with Branded Hashtags, now renamed to Hashmojis: Available since the 2010 World Cup as Hashflags, Hashmojis are branded hashtags accompanied by a customizable emoji that appears for users whenever they use this specific hashtag.
Up next, we’ve got Hashfettis: These were released back in January right after the new year, debuting with Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama. The feature would fill up users’ screens with fluttering emoji confetti, upon pressing on the branded hashtag.
What’s different is that Hashfettis weren’t officially promoted as an ad option back then. Also, Hashfetti emojis are now “slightly enlarged and multiplied, allowing users more visibility of the design and the animation for 24 hours,” according to the Twitter for Business official announcement.
We wrap up with Custom Likes, previously dubbed Branded Likes, that allow businesses to animate the Like button for 24 hours in tweets containing advertiser-selected hashtags. Custom Likes come at an extra cost though, and must be purchased as an add-on to Timeline Takeover and Reach Block ad packages.
