X live streaming goes Premium

X  just threw a curveball at its users; live streaming is going behind a paywall.

Starting soon, only users with a Premium X subscription will be able to broadcast live streams. This move marks a significant shift from the platform’s open approach, where anyone could become a live streamer and potentially capture a major news event.

X hasn’t officially commented on the reasoning behind this change. However, some speculate it could be a two-pronged decision: tackling the issue of copyright infringement on live streams, and boosting Premium subscriptions.

One of the biggest concerns surrounding this change is its impact on citizen journalism. Live streaming has empowered everyday people to document events in real-time, providing valuable insights often unseen by mainstream media.

As the dust settles, one thing’s for sure: the way we consume live content on X is about to change.
