Instagram’s ‘Not Interested’ will shake up those algorithms 

To stay on track with its archenemy’s AI-brains, Instagram is testing a not-so-new ‘Not Interested’ control for its users to bulk decide whether suggested posts catch their fancy, in turn fine-tuning the feed algorithms on the go. 

The platform is also experimenting with another feature that allows hiding suggested posts based on the hashtags, keywords, and emojis in the captions. Instagram will ‘immediately hide those posts and refrain from showing you similar content in the future’. 

As it seems, these manual feedback elements are trying to strike a compromising balance between Instagram users’ recent frustration towards suggested clutter infiltrating their Explore feeds, and Meta‘s agenda to pick up the relentless chase with TikTok
