Short-lived playlists for the sporadic watchers
You’ll finally be capable of stacking up those YouTube videos in line for a quick playlist jam on your smartphone, thanks to the app’s latest update. No more gruesomely exhausting clean-up rounds for your “Save to Watch later” or “Save to playlist” clutter.
The Google-owned platform has been stuck in the development lab for two years now, prepping its latest Queue system for both iOS and Android. Do note that this ‘Add to queue’ feature has long been available on YouTube browser, Chromecast and YouTube Music.
As spotted by 9to5Google, only a select number of Premium subscribers can enable the beta update from the ‘Try new features’ section. The three-dot overflow menu that appears on video thumbnails will now house a new “Play last in queue” button.
Tapping it will prompt YouTube to create sort of an impermanent playlist at the bottom of your screens; where you can rearrange viewing order, repeat & shuffle, or swipe left to unqueue a video. Your cued-up choices will disappear upon quitting the app or closing the mini-player.
So hurry and give it a spin before January 28 (in the far-fetched case it gets removed instead of rolling out to the masses)!
