Google signs truce with Getty Images to use its content in search and other products
Following previous legal actions taken from Getty against Google, the two companies have collaborated on a multi-year licensing deal enabling the search-giant to use Getty’s content throughout its services and products.
Getty Images CEO, Dawn Airey, has commented on the new partnership saying: “This agreement between Getty Images and Google sets the stage for a very productive, collaborative relationship between our companies. We will license our market leading content to Google, working closely with them to improve attribution of our contributors’ work and thereby growing the ecosystem.”
If you are among the users who contribute to the 3.5 billion Google search per day, you will soon notice the difference in the image search where Google will make copyright disclaimers more apparent and removes the “View image” links in order to prevent direct downloads.
