Facebook releases One-Time Notifications
For the past few years, Facebook has been rolling out a plethora of features to ease interactions between business and customers that has effectively created a proper marketplace…and we didn’t even notice! Long gone are the days when the most important Facebook activity was sharing your Pet Society scores with your high school friends.
This is the reason why the release of new Business features is no longer news. Facebook has been such an important part of our online experience that it just feels natural, regardless of what we do. Sharing your past vacation pictures? Yes. Updating your job status? Of course. Selling your old books? Yes, of course. Buying clothes from a retailer? Naturally.
To reduce B2C friction even further, Facebook is launching an API for Messenger that will basically send automated follow-up messages. The platform explains that:
“Businesses can send a message to the user asking if they want to be notified on a topic. If the user asks to be notified, the business receives a token and can use this token to send out the notification with the information the user requested at a later time.”
