A new “Profile Display” is currently in testing on Instagram. It will allow users to set a status on their profile and notify people of their activity..

Users will have different options to display the status to their connection such as Working, Celebrating, Busy, Happy. The status will appear in two different places, the direct messaging tab and underneath the username on the profile page.
