Instagram has decided to become more upfront with shadow banned creators.

The platform will be giving professional account holders a heads-up when their posts are blocked from Explore, Reels and Feed. In this case, Instagram lends them three options: Disagree with the decision and submit a request, edit the post, or remove the banned content altogether.

In the past, creatives were left under the mercy of a frustratingly dark underbelly in Instagram’s secret denouncing mechanics. Engagement with their content would suddenly take a nosedive, or worse, their posts would be deleted without any justification.

The company said it is working on a similar feature for account-level bans as well.
