Meta’s biggest ad updates revealed

Meta just dropped a trove of ad updates at NewFronts 2025, and if you’re in the business of reaching people where they scroll, you’re going to want to pay attention.
Riding the Trend Wave with Reels Ads
First up: Instagram’s new “Trending Reels Ads.” Think of it as Meta’s answer to TikTok’s popular “Pulse” advertising format. The concept is beautifully simple: your brand gets to piggyback on the day’s hottest content. Meta promises brands can choose to align with overall trending content or get specific with topical lineups like beauty and sports.
“Partnership Ads” Go Stealth Mode
Meta’s new “Partnership Ads” update lets brands choose whether to display their handle alongside the creator’s. On one hand, it makes sponsored content feel more organic. On the other hand, it edges closer to that gray area between authentic content and advertising.
Facebook Gets the Creator Treatment
Facebook isn’t being left out. Meta’s expanding its AI-powered creator content recommendations to the platform, bringing the same partnership opportunities that have been working on Instagram to the OG social platform. They’re also testing “Facebook Live Partnership” ads, because apparently, live streaming is having a moment (again).
Threads Enters the Video Ad Game
Meta also announced video ads are coming to Threads. Expect autoplay formats in 16:9 or square, expanding on tap. It’s a sign that Meta sees Threads as more than an X alternative–it’s becoming another canvas for brand storytelling..
For advertisers, this offers new ways to tap into authentic voices and trending conversations. For creators, it means better tools to prove their value and more opportunities to monetize their content. For users… well, hopefully it means more relevant, entertaining ads instead of random product pushes.
