TikTok tests a new ‘Clear Mode’

TikTok’s various buttons & description texts usually hide some parts of the clips being watched.

To potentially address this drawback, TikTok is currently testing a ‘Clear Mode’ feature that will allow users to choose a clutter-free viewing experience with no distractions.

While ‘Clear Mode’ might enhance content viewing on the app, it could also act as a double-edged sword for businesses and creators, and reduce the overall engagement since likes, comments, and shares, among others, will be hidden.

TikTok has shared the below in a statement to TechCrunch:

“TikTok said it doesn’t have much to share on the test at this time. Considering clear mode is in limited testing, it’s unknown when or if TikTok plans to roll it out more widely.”

The testing is still in its early phases and with a small group of users.
