YouTube removes ‘on-platform activities’ sharing functionality
YouTube is removing the ability for users to automatically post their ‘on-platform activity’ on Twitter and Google+ because they believe that content customization is far better than automatically generated posts.
It explains the move as follows:
“We’ve found that social sharing works better when the message is more customized and takes advantage of social media features, such as @mentions. Overall, this provides a better experience for both you and your followers vs automatically generated posts.”
While the move means less noise across platforms; it could be an annoyance for creators who use the functionality to inform their Twitter’s followers about their latest upload in one click.
The share ‘on-platform activity’ functionality will be deleted after January 31st, 2019.
