TikTok and UMG reconcile

TikTok and Universal Music Group (UMG), home to everyone from Taylor Swift to Billie Eilish, have finally reached a licensing agreement.   

After months of back-and-forth accusations, both parties have agreed to terms ensuring UMG artists receive compensation for their music on TikTok while monitoring generative AI creations.

So, we can now expect a system that ensures UMG artists are properly compensated when their music fuels those catchy TikTok trends. 

Is the copyright saga over? Let’s hold off on the curtain call just yet. While this is a victory for UMG artists, the fight for fair pay across the music industry rages on. Many creators are still battling for equitable compensation in this digital streaming era.
